During the meeting the Committee Chairman informed the Ambassador of the political situation in Ukraine.
Oleh Bilorus dwelled upon renewed and extended functions of the Committee, due to which the Committee acquires extended responsibility and importance in legislative provision of all foreign political and foreign economic activity of Ukraine.
The Committee Chairman stated that The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine "directs its efforts to the development of active relations with the partner countries". The Tentative Plan of International Exchanges of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Year 2008 envisages exchange of parliamentary delegations between Ukraine and Azerbaijan. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Deputy Group on Inter-Parliamentary Liaison with the Republic of Azerbaijan is also almost formed.
The Ambassador of Azerbaijan informed the Committee Chairman of the prospects of cooperation between the two countries. Inter alia, he dwelled upon new projects of railway construction between Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, oil and gas pipelines; commented on cooperation within the GUAM.
